Frequently Asked Questions
Frequently Asked Questions

  • How much weight does one pallet contain?
One pallet of dry stack stone weighs approximately 3,000 lbs.

  • How can I figure out how much my job will weigh?
Flagstone and fieldstone weigh 14lbs per square foot one inch thick
    (i.e. 1.5" thick = 21 lbs.).

  • How can I figure out how many pallets my wall stone job will require?
    1. Multiply: length x width x height = total cubic feet
    2. Divide: total cubic feet / 17
(there is 17 cubic feet in one pallet of dry stack stone) =
    Total number of pallets needed
Wall stone covers approximately 35-40 square feet of wall per ton of stone.

  • Do you provide shipping?
We have several shipping companies we work with to provide you with the best shipping price. We ship nation wide as well as to Canada.

  • How much can a flatbed hold?
A regular flatbed truck holds approximately 14 pallets of stone depending on the type of stone and up to approximately 45,000 lbs. Trips within a 4 - 5 hour radius can use a day cab truck which can hold 48,000 lbs.

  • Can you deliver with something to unload the stone?
We can request a truck with a boom or lift gate but these add to the cost of the shipping.

  • Can I send in my own shipping company?
Absolutely! If you feel you can get a better rate on shipping, we will work with other shipping companies as well.

  • Do you ship to residential areas?
We do send trucks into residential areas but it is frequently difficult or more expensive to find trucks willing to do this. The customer must ensure a large truck can access job site. (i.e. bridge weight limits, roads and drive ways with sharp corners).

  • Do you supply samples?
Samples are available upon request. We do ask that you provide us with your FedEx or UPS shipping number, pay COD or provide us with a credit card number to cover the price of the shipping on the samples. There is no cost for the actual sample itself.

  • Do you do special cuts?
We do provide special cuts upon request. We are using the AutoCad to create templates in order to get exact dimensions of special cuts (i.e. radius cuts, etc.). Pricing for special cuts is given when exact dimensions are provided.

  • What is "millennium cut" and "natural cleft" stone?
The difference between millennium cuts stone and natural cleft stone is in the production process of the stone.

Millennium cut means that the stone has been sawn on all six sides (length, width, thickness). This type of production process allows all dimensions to be precise. The face is thermal and all pieces are consistent in thickness and face presentation.
Natural cleft means the stone is split with a hammer and chisel to thickness after the initial cutting process.

Natural cleft stone presents natural characteristics. This means the flagstone may contain subtle variations and fluctuations in the face reveal and color appearance. Fluctuations and variations are what give natural stone exclusive beauty.

  • How soon will my order be filled?
The rate at which you will receive your order depends on the type of stone ordered and the availability of that type of stone. Orders are filled in a reasonable amount of time and we will work with you to meet any deadlines you may have.
